Service Design

While we don't offer one singular, short definition of service design we subscribe generally to the Erika Hall definition and have elaborated a bit on her take: we also emphasize creating design recommendations by gathering evidence, learning about the various stakeholder’s value exchange, and deep user context understanding, her approach to service design means creating holistic, coherent experiences by researching what people (all the people not just a mythical “end user”) truly need and delivering value, focusing on the big picture and linking creation, criticism (illustrating breakdowns to decision makers implying the potential for enhancement) and iterative, continued inquiry. We all agree understanding the why behind user behavior and business goals is essential, ensuring services aren't just functional but meaningful and ethically sound, integrating philosophy and research into practical design.

Place based experiences

In these days of digital overload it is important to engage in the richness of the earth. We are eternally grateful to live in paradise and welcome you to come join us; kayaking through bonsai mangroves, painting in moss covered fields or just sitting on the island watching the ducks and clouds roll by. After we harvest seaweed and Dungeness crab we can discuss the days adventures around the fire.
